Fans threaten to boycott BBNaija show over Pere-Angel twist

Viewers of the 2021 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) are grumbling over a new twist introduced by the organisers of the reality show.

Biggie earlier scrapped the usual head of house (HoH) game and announced a new task titled the ultimate veto power game (UVPG).

He said the winner of the exercise would be immune from eviction and enjoy veto power to select the HoH for the week.

At the end of the exercise, Biggie had announced White Money, Queen, Pere, Saga, Nini, and Angel as housemates up for possible eviction for the week.

Queen, Saga, and Nini were thereafter sent packing from the show while Pere and Angel were asked to leave the house in what appeared to be a fake eviction.

Without the knowledge of other housemates, Angel and Pere were taken to a secret “white room” where it was announced that they were to play a game to earn a spot at the finale.

The move didn’t seem to have gone down well with the fans of the two reality stars and other viewers of the show.

The criticisms of the new twist took another dimension after the voting poll shows that Pere had 25.31% of votes while Angel had 14.63%.

Takings to Twitter to air their grievances, fans questioned the organisers as to why they would put up the twist after the duo had amassed enough votes to remain in the game.

Others threatened to shun the reality TV show altogether.

Pere’s media team also issued a statement via his Instagram page wherein it says that they have been thrown off-balance by the twist.

“The events of yesterday created so much uproar among our fans, neutrals, and even our competitors,” the statement read in part.

“The ripple effect of this event has thrown our voting team off-balance in terms of our preparedness for the final week of voting.

“Even though we feel unfairly at a disadvantage, we still believe it’s a twist and a game that will play out and eventually make our votes count.”

Pere’s media team also warned that: “It’s being rumoured that some of our supporters are planning on taking certain actions to express their anger and frustration.”
